COVID Protection

We have signage in the recycling shed and toilet/shower block area making campers aware about keeping your distance from other campers when using the onsite facilities.

Signage in the toilets and showers about hand washing and sanitising Hand sanitiser dispensers are situated around the site toilets….. water collection point ... information shed…. Chemical disposal point and office. There is also a self cleaning station in both toilets where I provide chemicals and paper towelling for you to self clean.

There is a notice on the main office door that reminds everyone that face masks need to be worn inside, Mobile phone QR codes are situated in the office and recycling shed. Regular cleaning of the toilets and showers takes place several times a day.

Hand cleaning materials at various points in the campsite eg water fill up, toilets and chemical disposal.

Your emailed welcome letter tells you that I’m trying to keep you and others on the campsite safe, asks you to use the chemicals to clean areas you use and keep the doors/windows open for ventilation and reduce the COVID risk for everyone on site.

We are very pleased to have been awarded the Visit Britain WE'RE GOOD TO GO Certification showing we have adapted our campsite operations in line with respective Government, public health guidance, we have a COVID-19 risk assessment in place to aid staff training, social distancing and cleanliness procedures throughout the campsite.

Offsite Facilities

The owner of 'The Coffee Shop' in Bream has kindly said he will give all campers at Hawthorne Cottage 10% off all purchases. This Cafe is at number '2' on The Bream Heritage Walk. Its a fabulous cafe selling homemade cakes, great coffee and I've been told a really good - Full English Breakfast plus much more on their menu. The cafe is only about a mile away so within easy walking distance through the woods leading from my site. They're also dog friendly. I will give you the code when you arrive. ENJOY.

"Our 3rd trip this year(April, August and October) to this beautiful peaceful site in the Forest of Dean. Hawthorne Cottage is our jewel in the crown and so convenient and handy for most things you require from a break away:- Local (from the site) - numerous walks and bike trails through the forest, a 6 mile walk on the Bream Heritage Trail, Walk to Parkend, walk to Bream and so much more. Trips by Car - Lydney( including the harbour), Tintern Abbey, Ross on Wye, Chepstow, Symonds Yat. Refreshments - Frydays chip shop(for takeways), and the Cafe both in Bream, Miners Arms in Sling. This 10 pitch site is a perfect spot to unwind, listen to birdsong, put your feet up, and enjoy the view! Very generous spaced out pitches and good toilet and shower facilities. All topped off with a very friendly owner/manager Bev who is an absolute delight to know and can't do enough for you. We're so looking forward to visiting again next year. This peaceful haven set in the Forest of Dean is pure perfection for us for many reasons. Being only 10 adult only pitches, all that can be heard is bird song and the trees rustling in the breeze. An abundance of walks/cycle routes direct from the site. If you want to travel further afield a short car journey takes you to so many beautiful places such as Westbury Court Gardens(National Trust) Symonds Yat, Monmouth and the banks of the River Severn. Thanks to Bev the site manager for being a breath of fresh air and taking time to chat to everyone. She's an absolute gem, so friendly with a definite art for customer service, she's very efficient at managing the site keeping it clean, tidy and Covid compliant. I'll Howard & Julie x
